Refurbishment Award

This award is designed to encourage all parks to reinvest and to show that there are plenty of ways to refurbish parts of a park, not all costing a huge amount.

This award will be presented to a park owner/operator that has completed a refurbishment within their business within the last two years that has had the most significant positive impact on their park.

This could include a cabin refurbishment, amenities block, camp kitchen and/or office refurbishment.

Criteria used to determine the winner of this award include:

  • Improvement in key metrics such as turnover, occupancy, and RevPAR
  • Guest feedback
  • Improvement in customer ratings on review sites including, but not limited to, TripAdvisor, WikiCamps, Booking.com, ReviewPro
  • Changes to the physical appearance of the park
  • Return on Investment (RoI) and/or Return on Effort (RoE)
  • Other benefits to the business and/or guests and/or the local community

Nominations can be made by the business that has been turned around, industry suppliers or other individuals within the sector that know the nominated business well.

Ensure the nomination includes:

  • The reason the refurbishment was necessary
  • A description of the refurbishment
  • Any challenges faced with the refurbishment
  • Cost of the refurbishment and the return on investment
  • Photos of the refurbishment
  • Results (i.e. improvements in key metrics, customer feedback, staff or contractor feedback)
  • Lessons learnt through this refurbishment that could assist other Queensland parks
  • A current photo of the business or a copy of the business’ logo

A nomination form will be available once this award opens for nominations.  Nominations do not need to be on the supplied form as long as the criteria are met.
