Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) is now launching several dedicated self-drive tours – just for you.  Suggested itineraries will offer flexible 1-day drives where you’ll hit all the hot spots, or longer stays ranging between 2 and 5-day drives where you’ll have the time to stop and soak up the sights.

Why do the Great Barrier Reef Drive?

The Great Barrier Reef Drive is an iconic Australian ‘must-do’ drive.  You can do the trip in 2.5 hours non-stop, or take as long as you like.

The drive will take you from sunny downtown Cairns through to the northern beaches, where you can stop and picnic on the beach.  Further north, stop in the popular resort town of Port Douglas, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, to stop and wander through markets and local shops, or dine in the marina precinct.  Half way along, Mossman Gorge offers a first glimpse of rainforest and a place to cool down from the tropical heat.  Wind your way through the famous Daintree Rainforest and find yourself walking under the rainforest canopy or gliding along the Daintree River to spot crocodiles.  Finally, end your journey at the iconic Cape Tribulation where remote beaches and exotic wildlife wait for you.

No matter the length of your trip, each tour will ensure you take in the top spots of the region so you can experience it all just like a local.  So why not let TPDD do all the mapping for you and give you more reasons to experience this magical region!
