Just one hour’s drive from Brisbane, the Scenic Rim is a special part of Queensland.  Filled with misty mountain ranges, romantic wineries, rich volcanic soil and open plains, the Scenic Rim is a long-time favourite destination, or stop-off, to take time out to enjoy beautiful scenery, hike or camp at any time of the year.

But there’s more to this region than meets the eye.  There’s great food and produce, wineries, breweries and farms that’ll keep you coming back time and again.

One of the best reasons to visit is the Scenic Rim is the annual celebration of the region’s produce, art and craft and all-round beauty at the ever popular Eat Local Week.

Each year, farms and businesses across the region open their doors, farm gates and paddock’s to welcome the community in to experience what they call home through events, tours and experiences.

Featuring over 90 events including degustation dinners, wine and beer tastings, street food markets and glorious coffee, to jamming with lambs, breakfast with jersey cows and camel rides – there’s something for everyone.  Events are taking place right across the region from Canungra to The Lost World Valley, from Boonah to Beaudesert and Kalbar to Tamborine Mountain – an area of more than 4,200 square kilometres.

Officially, Eat Local Week runs from June 29 to July 7, but because there’s so much to see, do and eat, events are already taking place now – and selling out fast.  So why not start making plans to take some time off over the coming School Holidays and visit the region now?
