Fast forward to 2018 and Adam is now the General Manager of Suncoast Caravan Service, a business that turned over in one month, the same amount that it had turned over in his first year with the company.

What happens when you have a cyber security breach?

Cyber security is a significant concern for most businesses and a cyber security incident that impacts a small business can be devastating.

Luckily, cyber security doesn’t have to be difficult. There are simple measures that if understood and implemented, can significantly avoid, or reduce the impact of, the most common cyber security incidents.  Hear about the potential impacts of a cyber security breach and some measures you can take to protect your business.

Wage Theft – Could it be happening in your business?

Angus Strachan, Director, Business Services – BDO

There has recently been a swathe of news reports focussing on the underpayment of staff among some of Australia’s largest and highest profile corporate employers. Wesfarmers, Qantas, Woolworths, Commonwealth Bank, Super Retail Group and George Colombaris’ MADE group are among the big name organisations across several sectors to have breached workplace laws.

Compliance with Fair Work laws is not only a concern for big business. With the complexity of modern awards comes a greater risk of payment or entitlement breaches by employers of any size. If Woolworths, with the team and resources at their disposal, can get it wrong, anyone can.

So, what processes can you consider to reduce the likelihood that you unintentionally underpay your staff?

What happens when you have to evacuate your park?

Matt Bruckner, Chief Operating Officer – NRMA Parks & Resorts

This summer there has been an unprecedented level of park evacuations with fires in multiple states.  The situation in many of these locations saw park owners left with the tough decision about when they should evacuate their park, as well as ensuring they kept current and future guests informed about the situation.

To tell us about the lessons they learnt over summer with the evacuation of three of their parks we have Chief Operating Officer from NRMA Parks and Resorts, Matt Bruckner.

Still an Industry Leader, 130 years on

Duncan Littler, Bundaberg Rum Visitor Experience Manager – Bundaberg Rum

The Distillery was born in 1888, when seven Bundaberg locals decided with a stroke of genius to take the by-product from the growing sugar industry and open up a rum distillery.  It was their ingenuity and determination that has gone on to define the character of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and everyone who works there til this day.

Though not without its trials; multiple fires and floods forced the Distillery to close and rebuild, but with grit and unfailing optimism it came back stronger than ever.

In 2019, Bundaberg Rum Visitor Experience took home Gold in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries category at both the Australian and the Queensland Tourism Awards, highlighting how a business can continue to be an industry leader after over 130 years!
