Bundaberg, one of Queensland's largest cities, is noted for its sugar and rum production and offers an attractive, equable climate and relaxed lifestyle. Bundaberg city is the hub and commercial capital of the region servicing a regional population of over 130,000 with dynamic shopping, dining and entertainment choices and providing all the services and facilities one would expect from a provincial capital.
The city boasts a bustling CBD and a wide range of attractions and accommodation options. Tour a local icon - the Bundaberg Rum Distillery and see where the 'famous Aussie Spirit' is made - you even get a taste at the end of the tour. You can visit the Bundaberg Barrel where you can take an interactive tour to see how Australia's favourite Ginger Beer (Bundaberg Ginger Beer) and their other thirst-quenching softdrinks are made, including their new flavours of Blood Orange and Pink Grapefruit - and the best part, you get to experience the full flavour with a taste at the end of your tour.
You may choose to use the city as a central point to discover the rest of the region including the remarkable hinterland in the North Burnett which services six main townships and twenty-five villages and farming catchments. Undertake a country adventure through historic Gin Gin, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Gayndah (don't miss visiting the Big Orange), Mundubbera, Monto and the breathtaking Cania Gorge, Eidsvold (and the new RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre) and Childers, a quaint country town right on the Bruce Highway where you can purchase a famous Mammino Gourmet Ice-Cream on your way through - the hardest choice you'll have is which flavour!
Over 140kms of unspoilt coastline stretches north from Woodgate in the south up to the Town of 1770. Discover miles of clean stinger-free beaches, oceanfront accommodation and cafes, 4x4 in one of eight coastal national parks or just sit back, relax and enjoy a spot of fishing - all without the crowds!
